Life as a single child is not such a bad one. Not for the daughter of two medical nin. Shin Chiyo, or Chi for short, wasn't so very normal though. Her parents were always paranoid that their work would find them, and to try to protect her from what ever enemies they weren't sure they'd made. But it turns out, they did make enemies. Ones who were willing to attack them within their very home, their shelter, their base. When Chi was young, she heard a clash coming from the upper part of her house. She hid inside a small chest, scared thanks to her parents drilling into her someday, something awful may happen. After several hours passed, she finally left and began to explore the upper parts finding signs of a struggle, but no blood, no bodies. Just gone. Her parents had vanished, taken after such a fight. Thankfully, she was graciously allowed to use the funds her parents had stored to survive. She lived alone for most of her life from that point onwards, not able to look for her parents. She would ask around at first, but over time, she accepted that until she grew older and stronger, it was very possible she'd never find them.

A short time later, she graduated from the Academy, on track to become just as her parents had, medical nin, to heal for the most part, trained with a katana though, just in case. She didn't want to be unable to defend herself. The katana she had merely found at the site of the battle within her house. She didn't know whose it was, but she relied on it, as a normal child would a blanket or a stuffed toy. Anyways. From the Academy she was teamed up, as is standard, with two other nin and a jounin. She would be support for most of the time, and then one day on a mission, they were to investigate the disappearance of an old man who lived alone outside of the village. When they arrived, they found signs of a struggle, but once more, no blood or bodies. Not even a weapon in this case. As they continued their investigation, they were assaulted by a pair of ninjas. The four of them were able to defend themselves, until their attackers finally decided to leave them. The mission was ended, and the trio told to forget about it. She returned to her own home, and found the same duo once more, only barely managing to escape into a nearby store. From then on, she lived with the jounin of the squad, earning the ire of the other two students, believing she was earning favor with him. It was roughly at this point she decided to stop giving fucks about what people thought of her. But the attempted attack had scarred her, and she never brought up that mission or her parents again.

Eventually, enough time passed that she became a Jounin herself, her medical jutsu some of the most highly skilled in the land. The others in her old group continued moving on with their lives and leaving Iwagakure to explore the outside world. Her desire to once find out what had happened to her parents had died, and she decided to simply move onwards. But she would not be so paranoid, willing to guide other young nin to their own paths. And from there, her story begins. (I had an awesome shot of inspiration then it died when I passed out while writing it so weak ending ;w;)
