During the time Toshiro was born, Iwagakure has been attacked numerous of times with devastating effect by the Five-Tailed Dolphin Horse. The damage was completely devastating and the Kage and the council within the village attempted to devise a means to rid themselves of the beast. They sought ancient sealing techniques from Uzushiogakure, which was all lost to time. This plan to find a strong enough fuinjutsu crashed and burned seriously, and the outcome? More loss and tragedy within the village who waited the next strike but slowly running low on numbers. They sent word to other outlying villages for aid, and they found one. Using an ancient sealing technique from the Mist, who was generous enough to lend them a scroll of the jutsu, their kage asked one man within the village to preform the jutsu, who had enough power and the willpower to preform it and the beast was sealed within a pithos. After several years the village thought of ideas to remove the Pithos from the village and place it deep inside a mountain, and soon that idea came to be.

The seal on the Pithos was slowly breaking, the village unaware of this transported it to the outskirts of the village and the pithos was dropped... it shattered on the ground and the evils unleashed made those name the jar, Pandora's Pithos. The Five-Tailed beast ran rampant through the area flattening mountains and carving deep canyons in the ground with it's claws. Soon the Kage sought another potential user of the sealing jutsu who was willing to sacrifice his life to save the village, and the village came to agreement that to stop the problem the beast had to be sealed within a human host to prevent tragedy from happening once again. And the man selected to preform the jutsu had a son who was born only hours before hand and was put up to the chopping block.

The sealing took hours, a constant struggle between the village and the beast and eventually with long hours of worry and fear the beast was sealed into the body of a newborn child. Despite being a hero to the village, they always feared the inevitable- the bijuu being released once more and possible destroying the village straight and this child, Toshiro, grew up not only to be respected for the fact he saved the village but also feared for what was inside of him. All the while Toshiro had no idea why when he walked through the Academy, students would step aside and let him through. Or when he'd go to a swing they would all vacate.

Being a hero is hard, being a hero with a curse is even harder. Toshiro didn't know the meaning of friendship and he slowly grew to hate himself for the curse within and refused to even speak to his teacher. His attempts at kindness turned into a cruel disposition. He wanted attention, someone to finally notice who he was- not what was inside of him. He wanted love, friends, and people to talk to. Not sitting alone on a slide or swinging alone in a swing. But soon, he accepted his cruel fate and attempted to live with himself while this beast inside of him slowly grew stronger..

Despite being a jinchuriki, Toshiro possess rather great chakra control preforming near perfect bunshin, henge, and kawarimi jutsu. He passed with rather high marks for someone of his nature and the instructors figured he'd be a rather proficient ninjutsu user and would excell later on in manipulating chakra in deadly ways. At the age of 14 he's already used several C ranked jutsu with great effect.
