Chigatana Series: The Shinreigaku Clan Secret Jutsus

The following fifteen Jutsus are the Secret Jutsus passed down from generation to generation since the early days of the Shinreigaku Clan. Their repertoire of techniques has changed little over the years.
Name: Chigatana: The Shining Blade
Nature: N/A
Description: The Shining Blade is the first and most basic technique of the Shinreigaku clan. By channeling their Chakra into a blade, the students cause the weapon to glow. This is only the visual sign that they are using the technique, however. The true affect is that the blade becomes sharper and easier to cut with, making it a far more deadly weapon. Naturally, it requires a sword to use.

Name: Chigatana: Sword Flash
Nature: N/A
Description: Again, the Ninja channels energy into a sword or metallic object. However, this Jutsu differs from Shining Blade in that the Chakra is an active agent, not a passive, strengthening ability. It shines out brightly, causing those who look upon it to be temporarily blinded. Beginning students are only able to make this technique last for a few seconds, creating a brief distraction, but a master can maintain it for long enough to permanently blind someone as though they were staring directly into the sun.

Name: Chigatana: Ghost Sword
Nature: Wind
Description: The user channels energy into the shape of a sword, creating a weapon to fight with even when they are unarmed. At beginning levels, the Ninja requires a thick stick or sword hilt to channel the energy into, and the sword that is created is unstable and often changes shape based on the student's concentration. This is the D-Rank form of the technique. However, a master is able to create a fully-formed sword out of wind Chakra without any external focus. This fully formed variation of the technique creates a far stronger blade than any metal sword. The closer the user is to this ideal form, the closer the user is to the B-rank version of the technique; C-Rankers can generally generate a weak sword without a focus or an ideal sword with one.

Rank: D-B; Useable by Genin, but its nature and power strengthens over time. Most users master it completely in the late phase of their Chuunin period.
Name: Chigatana: Longsword
Nature: Wind
Description: This is a Wind-Type technique that requires the Ghost Sword jutsu to use. By channeling energy into a physical sword, the user causes it to physically lengthen itself while retaining all of its strength. It does not increase the strength of the blade, but simply makes it longer. Lengths vary pending the user's abilities, but legends among the clan state that Ikkaku Shinreigaku, during battle with his brother, Rainechi, once felled an entire forest with a single blow using this technique.

Range: Variable; most often Mid-range.
Rank: C- Useable by Chuunin.
Name: Chigatana: Sword Rain
Nature: Wind
Description: This is a Wind-Type technique that requires the Ghost Sword technique to learn. The ninja forms multiple Ghost Swords in the air. The quality of these swords is almost always at the lower-end of the quality scale as described in the Ghost Sword technique. The swords are then thrown down toward the ground, the intent being to blanket an area so that the enemy has difficulty dodging. Usually, around a dozen swords are formed with this technique, with learners forming as few as 5 or 6 and masters forming as many as 20.

Name: Chigatana: Rain of One Hundred Swords
Nature: Wind
Description: As Sword Rain above, but the number of swords increases to about one hundred blades, give or take a few, and the level of the swords increases to the full extent of the user's mastery of Ghost Sword.

Name: Chigatana: Rain of One-Thousand Blades
Nature: Wind
Description: This technique is exactly like the Sword Rain technique. However, this vital step in the learning process is the first one that really boosts it to frightening levels, creating around one thousand Chakra Blades that are at the lower end of the Ghost Sword power scale.

Name: Chigatana: Rain of One-Thousand Swords
Nature: Wind
Description: As Rain of One-Thousand Blades, but the individual quality of the blades is heightened to the maximum potential for a user's Ghost Sword.

Name: Chigatana: Rain of Ten Thousand Swords
Nature: Wind
Description: This increases the number of blades that are formed by ten times again what it once was. An enormous number of weaker enemies can be attacked with this single technique, potentially allowing a single Shinreigaku ninja to engage entire armies. It is a technique that can only be learned by the very most high-end Jonin of the clan.

Name: Chigatana: Wall of Blades
Nature: N/A
Description: The basic Shinreigaku defensive technique, the Wall of Blades causes a wall of blade-shaped defenses to rise out of the ground. These blades are formed from the user's Chakra and are about the same height as the user. There are gaps at the ankles and the tips of the blade.

Name: Chigatana: Shield Arm
Nature: N/A
Description: Not really a defensive technique all by itself, the Shield Arm Jutsu simply creates a shield on the off-hand of the user. How effective it is depends on the user's ability to maneuver it.

Name: Chigatana: Rejection
Nature: N/A
Description: Activated when an attack comes extremely near the user, the Rejection Jutsu assaults the incoming barrage with the user's Chakra in an attempt to reverse its direction. This can be made to rejepel attacks coming from in front of the user. Generally, the technique requires an implement, such as a blade, through which the Rejection Jutsu can be channeled. Using this technique without such an impliment raises it to an A-Rank Jutsu, for intents of difficulty. Of course, this Jutsu has its limits, and those attacking with greater levels of Chakra will be more likely to pierce through it. The Lightning and Wind elements have proven more effective against this type of defense.

Name: Chigatana: Reversal
Nature: N/A
Description: An upgrade of the Rejection Jutsu that not only stops the oncoming attack, but turns it back against the user. The technique that is reversed cannot be above B-Rank. Generally, this ability requires a channel, most often a sword, for the user to make the counter-attacking motion with. Naturally, the more complex nature of this technique also limits it more than Rejection, usable against a lesser maximum level of power than Rejection is.

Name: Chigatana: Blade Clone
Nature: Wind
Description: This technique requires the Wall of Blades, Shield Arm, and Rejection jutsus, and can have the Reversal jutsu applied to it. Similar to the shield arm and wall of blades techniques, the Blade Clone creates a construct made completely out of the users' wind-natured chakra. However, unlike other clones, a Blade Clone is not merely useful as a distraction. Anybody attacking a Blade Clone will suffer its adverse affects. Melee attacks are resisted by the dissipation of the body, causing the attacker to suddenly be punching a large mass of Chakra blades. Needless to say, that hurts. Likewise, those attacking the clone with Ninjutsu will find the effects of a Rejection or Reversal Jutsu sending their attacks in directions other than the one they'd intended. In other words, the Blade Clone is a sinister type of clone that uses the attacker's own offensive power to damage them.

Name: Chigatana

Description: The ultimate technique of the Shinreigaku clan, this is only taught to absolute masters. It requires total mastery of every other secret Jutsu in the Shinreigaku clan. First, the user holds their sword up into the air. Then, they project their Chakra all around them, penetrating the bodies of the enemies around them invisibly. The projected Chakra attaches itself to the major veins and arteries of the bodies it infiltrates. This causes the Chakra to attach itself to the enemy's blood flow. Once this is done, the user calls his Chakra back into his sword. In turn, this also causes the enemy's blood to drain out of their body and go into the gutters of the user's sword. However, this is a double-edged sword. It is nearly impossible to exempt one's allies or even one's self from the technique. Although the damage to the user is comparatively light, it is still incapacitating. The technique is described by the clan as a sure-kill ability, but it is phesable that a target or victim could survive it. A powerful and lethal technique, it is only taught to clan leaders and their successors, and is rarely ever used because of its indiscriminate, near-absolute lethality.
